Freema Agyeman has been confirmed to play the next companion in Doctor Who Season 29 after Billie Piper left her role as Rose Tyler in Doomsday.

Freema will play a character called Matha Jones. She will assist David Tennant, who will remain playing the Tenth Doctor. Martha will not appear in the 2006 Christmas Special, but she will be introduced in Episode 1 of Season 29, or Series 3.
