Doctor Who Magazine published a number of comics not featuring the Doctor.

Overview

Original stories

Apart from the adventures of the Doctor's current incarnation (at that time the Fourth), to pad out each issue, Doctor Who Weekly presented shorter stories by a different art and writing team, among them the then young and inexperienced comic writer Alan Moore and his later collaborator David Lloyd. These tended to feature well-known villians, such as the Daleks and later the Cybermen and Sontarans, among others. These appeared regularly until issue 59 with the Doctor serving as "host" of the stories. The characters of Abslom Daak and Kroton eventually appeared in the main strip, and the case of Daak, in other media.

In later version of the Weekly, by which time it had settled on the name Doctor Who Magazine, was used largely as a standalone prelude adventure that would be picked up or referenced in the main Doctor-led (usually epic) comic strip, or in case, when a continuing story got waylaid by production difficulties.

Re-prints

Doctor Who Weekly had also presented some reprints. It re-published black and white versions of the The Dalek Chronicles as The Dalek Tapes and entirely un-related original Marvel Comics science fiction stories and adaptations of classic works, as "Tales from the TARDIS". The Doctor also introduced these.
