* Cliff Richard is always going to be asked to sing Living Doll.  And Doctor Who is always going to be asked to bring back classic villains.  It makes the old school fans happy and almost guarantees the front page of Radio Times.  There's not a whole lot of classic villains left that the general public will have heard of; anyone they bring back now will be just to make the hardcore fans happy, like with the [[Macra]].
If anything we should be pleased they only tried to bring back one a year - they could have done them all in the first season and overloaded the world's nostalgia circuits.
Bringing back [[The Rani]] might diminish the Master story - he was so sad that there was once again only one Time Lord, bringing back The Rani might un-do that a bit.

Panopticon → The similarities with major monster comebacks...
There be spoilers about un-released stories here.
Run back to the forums if you're scared.

I have noticed the similarities:

1st Series Monster Comeback: Daleks 2nd Series Monster Comeback: Cybermen 3rd Series Monster Comeback: The Master 4th Series Monster Comebacks: Sontarans and Davros

1st Doctor's Ultimate Enemies: Daleks (5 times including Mission to the Unknown) 2nd Doctor's Ultimate Enemies: Cybermen (4 times) 3rd Doctor's Ultimate Enemies: The Master (8 times) 4th Doctor's Ultimate Enemies: Sontarans and Davros (Twice each!)

See what I mean? What's in store for Series 5? The Mara? Return of the Master? Series 6? Sil and the Mentors? The Valeyard? Series 7? Fenric? Gods of Ragnarok? Even better, how about The Rani? Please reply!
