Welcome to the Tardis:About Derekbd

Thanks for your edits! We hope you'll keep on editing with us. This is a great time to have joined us, because now you can play the Game of Rassilon with us and win cool stuff! Well, okay, badges. That have no monetary value. And that largely only you can see. But still: they're cool!

We've got a couple of important quirks for a Wikia wiki, so let's get them out of the way first.
British English, please
We generally use British English round these parts, so if you're American, please be sure you set your spell checker to BrEng, and take a gander at our spelling cheat card.
Spoilers aren't cool
We have a strict definition of "spoiler" that you may find a bit unusual. Basically, a spoiler, to us, is anything that comes from a story which has not been released yet. So, even if you've got some info from a BBC press release or official trailer, it basically can't be referenced here. In other words, you gotta wait until the episode has finished its premiere broadcast to start editing about its contents. Please check the spoiler policy for more details.
Other useful stuff
Aside from those two things, we also have some pages that you should probably read when you get a chance, like:

If you're brand new to wiki editing — and we all were, once! —  you probably want to check out these tutorials at Wikipedia, the world's largest wiki:

Remember that you should always sign your comments on talk and vote pages using four tildes like this:
~ ~ ~ ~

Thanks for becoming a member of the TARDIS crew! If you have any questions, see the Help pages, add a question to one of the Forums or ask on my talk page. -- Mini-mitch (Talk) 03:16, 30 December 2012

Commas required before conjunctions

Thanks for your recent edits! I've got a tiny niggle about one of them, though. It appears that you've edited away a comma before a conjunction. Please don't do this. Commas are required before and, but or or when an independent clause follows. So this is correct:

The Doctor was wearing a long brown coat and hat at the end of the previous story, but they've vanished when he materialises.

Please see Tardis:Comma#Using commas where a full stop or conjunction is required. Thanks, and keep up the good work!

Apparently I cannot remove content from my own talk page. That's just ODD, in my opinion.
I read CzechOut's info and took it on board. Since it has to stay here for all time I will respond: having a blanket rule such as ALWAYS having a comma before a conjunction is simply wrong, it seems to me. I'll refrain from any any corrections of this sort on this wiki since I don't want to get into grammar debate with someone who has such strong convictions: it can only end in tears (if it ever ends at all.) So I have said my peace. Happy editing! derekbd 02:34, May 29, 2013 (UTC)
Since I am the one who restored the info to your page, I will respond to your comments.
I don't want to get in a grammar debate either, but the rule that User:CzechOut left here on your talk page is a basic rule of grammar; it has nothing to do with convictions.
As for removing info from "your" talk page, I think you misunderstand what a wiki talk page is for. Its primary purpose is for others to communicate with you about editing on the wiki. You are free to personalize it as you would like, but it's not really "your" page. You can read more about the user page policies here. It explains, among other things, why you cannot remove info from a talk page. You can also find some useful info about talk pages here (you'll have to scroll down the page a bit).
