The Feast of Melkur was an annual celebration held on Traken.
Its purpose was to ease the Melkur's passing into the earth, becoming part of the biomatrix of the Traken Union. Celebrants performed poetry, music, and dance.
The Second Doctor, Jamie McCrimmon and Victoria Waterfield attended one Feast of Melkur. The Doctor played "Three Blind Mice", Jamie played the bagpipes, and Viola recited a poem. (PROSE: The Astronomer's Apprentice)
