Ginger beer was a favourite drink of the fourth and eighth incarnations of the Doctor. (DW: The Android Invasion, TN: Rip Tide) It is similar to ginger ale, but with a much stronger, more pungent aroma and flavor.
Whilst on what they thought was Earth, the Doctor offered some 'ginger pop' (another name for ginger beer) to Sarah Jane Smith, but she disliked it. It was also (partially) because of this dislike he was able to dicern the android version of Sarah from the actual. (DW: The Android Invasion)
