PC Andy Davidson was Gwen Cooper's former police partner. He found glamorous police programmes like CSI: Crime Scene Investigation ridiculous and also seemed to be somewhat put out by Gwen's more inquisitive nature. (TW: Everything Changes)
After Gwen joined Torchwood, she met Andy again outside a nightclub where a man has been killed by Carys Fletcher, who was possessed by Sex Gas. (TW: Day One) Like Gwen's boyfriend Rhys Williams, he believed that she had been promoted to "Special Ops".
PC Andy later requested Gwen's help after a Roman soldier has fallen through time only to murder two men and subsequently be arrested. Jack and Gwen talked very frankly about what happened in front of him. (TW: End of Days)
Andy was present at the murder scene of a man who was killed by Time Agent John Hart. (TW: Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang)
Andy later assisted Gwen with her investigation of a sudden disappearance. During this, he revealed his affection for her and jealousy toward Rhys, which Gwen discovered to be his reason for not attending her wedding. It was revealed he still had a soft spot for Gwen and had a childish crush on her. (TW: Adrift)
He was also made aware that Gwen worked for Torchwood and showed interest in joining, but Gwen didn't want him to. (TW: Adrift) Later, Andy calls upon Gwen for assistance when Weevils begin attacking his police station and despite his jealousy over Gwen, works closely with Rhys Williams. (TW: Exit Wounds)
- Gwen and Andy meet in the novel Another Life at the scene of Guy Wildman's death. He also features in a flashback in the novel Trace Memory.
