An image translator was a device that could be worn by aliens to project a human disguise. These translators could be in the form of jewellery.
History
The Bane used image translators to disguise their true forms when they invaded Earth in 2008. The device appeared to translate the form of the Bane into a human equivalent projection. For example, Mrs Wormwood appeared older and superior, whilst Davey appeared younger and handsome. (TV: Invasion of the Bane) The image could possibly be manipulated to suit the needs of the wearer, such as Major Kilburne who needed to appear in the form of a UNIT officer. However, the translators interfered with the Bane's ability to read minds fully, requiring them to reveal their true forms to those whose minds they wanted to read completely. (TV: Enemy of the Bane)
