Bok was a living gargoyle.

Bok was a Dæmon creature that had been asleep for many thousand of years until he was awoken by the dig at Devil's End and The Master's cult ritual. Afterwards he was used by the Master to gain control of the local village and resist any attack. After the Master was defeated and Azal and his spaceship was destroyed, Bok went back to being a gargoyle statue becoming dormant again.
