- This one is, to be fair, a tough call. Even in Britain, it's not always spelled with an e. Heck, even in DWU fiction, it's often spelled with an i. However, we actually had a specific discussion on the spelling of this word and did indeed decide on artefact, as explained at T:SPELL.
