A prison governor was in charge of Stangmoor Prison. Although he initially believed that he could call Mailer's bluff when the inmate staged a riot, this soon proved not to be the case. He was acquainted with Professor "Emil Keller" from his machine, which had recently been used at his prison, but was shocked when the noted scientist participated in the take over of the prison.
