This is a great time to have joined us, because now you can play the Game of Rassilon with us and win cool stuff! Well, okay, badges. That have no monetary value. | We've got a couple of important quirks for a Wikia wiki, so let's get them out of the way first.
| |
| British English, please
| |
| We generally use British English round these parts, so if you're American, please be sure you set your spell checker to BrEng, and take a gander at our spelling cheat card.
| |
|
Spoilers aren't cool
| |
| We have a strict definition of "spoiler" that you may find a bit unusual. Basically, a spoiler, to us, is anything that comes from a story which has not been released yet. So, even if you've got some info from a BBC press release or official trailer, it basically can't be referenced here. In other words, you gotta wait until the episode has finished its premiere broadcast to start editing about its contents. Please check the spoiler policy for more details.

|
Other useful stuff
| Aside from those two things, we also have some pages that you should probably read when you get a chance, like:

| *the listing of all our help, policy and guideline pages

| *our Manual of Style

| |
| *a list of people whose job it is to help you

|

| If you're brand new to wiki editing — and we all were, once! — you probably want to check out these tutorials at Wikipedia, the world's largest wiki:

| Remember that you should always sign your comments on talk and vote pages using four tildes like this:
~ ~ ~ ~

BrEng
Hi :) Welcome to the wiki and thanks for your question. The reason that we choose a specific "stripe" of English is because we have people from all over the globe using our site, and we need to work to a common standard. Otherwise, you might use "color", while I would use "colour", and the wiki would look just a bit shabby.
I assume you don't speak British English, but then neither do I. It's easy to get up to speed, though — and to use your computer to help you spell things the right way. We have a whole section of the Tardis Manual dedicated to using British English, so just click through to T:BRENG and read the several help files that are in that chapter of our manual of style.
If you have further questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Polls
We don't use polls here except for special events, and they are only started by admin or Wikia Staff. We don't have blogs, by community discussion, so there's not really a space where an individual user could start polls. Polls are essentially forbidden on the forums, too, since forums are here are a place to figure out how to make the wiki better, not solicit opinions about Doctor Who.
We have run some polls before on our front page, and those results are kept at the poll archive, but it's unlikely polls will return there any time soon.
Don't lose hope, though, poll fan! Next year, we're having a major, Wikia-wide poll-driven event and we need your help! We're actively looking for help constructing that event. We could really use your poll-making energies there, so please drop by Thread:143558. Thanks :)

When to edit
Please read T:SPOIL in its entirely very, very carefully. It is essentially our most important policy. The specific answer to your question can be found at T:OFF REL, where a number of different situations are explored.
