They bought the company that had been publishing TV Comic — TV Publications, Ltd. — when the run of Doctor Who comic strips began. While they were in business, the published all the magazines in which Doctor Who ran, including TV Comic, Countdown, and TV Action. In 1979, Polystyle lost their license with the BBC to Marvel UK (UK), who then began publishing Doctor Who Weekly.
