Linda was a family member or friend of Clara Oswald, present along with her father and grandmother at one of their Christmas dinners.
When the Eleventh Doctor sent Clara back to Earth from Trenzalore for a second time, Linda suggested there were other fish in the sea, and that she had a list of possible replacements for the Doctor. (TV: The Time of the Doctor)
