PR or public relations was the business of marketing a company or person. Jilly Kitzinger was a PR guru who enjoyed difficult makreting challenges — such as the job of turning convicted murderer Oswald Danes into a sympathetic character after his Kentucky-ordered lethal injection failed to work.
Some of the tasks of a PR person, at least as exemplified by Kitzinger, were to book their clients on chat shows and arrange live public events. Danes despaired of her services, though, and once joked the Devil would employ a PR person should he "walk the Earth". (TV: Rendition)
Tish Jones was also in public relations. She variously helped Lazarus Laboratories and the government of Harold Saxon project their chosen images to the outside world. One of her key functions when working for Richard Lazarus was to arrange the party thrown to unveil the Lazarus de-ageing machine. (TV: The Lazarus Experiment, The Sound of Drums)
