Doctor Who is a "family franchise" — but only in the richest and most interesting sense of that term. Some content is aimed squarely at kids, while other bits are meant for rebellious young adults. Some is meant to give parents and their kids a bonding moment, and still others would require a grandparent to fully appreciate. It does not mean that all content is appropriate for all ages.
