Whale Tale is a Doctor Who Adventures comic strip published in 2013.

Summary

A research ship on the planet Azarius looks to be lost when a giant alien whale (a rogue bio-bot), moves in with its jaws open and ready to swallow it up…

Plot

Onboard an ocean research ship sailing the seas of the planet Azarius, the Doctor and Clara's voyage is suddenly disturbed by a huge giant alien whale that emerges from the sea around them with its hungry mouth open . The crew is horrified - they built the bio-bot! They were constructed so as to farm just enough fish that were needed and not to upset the balence in the ocean. But never before had any of them gone rogue and come to the surface to feed. Big enough to swallow the research ship whole the Doctor effects a rescue by leaving the ship in an anti-grav lifeboat! Knowing the Doctor has a plan Clara watches as the Doctor flies ahead into the mouth of the bio-bot and very soon manages to get to the control centre. But instead of stearing it away the Doctor moves it in closer, locking its jaws around the research ship. Inside the bio-bot's stomach all is calm and safe. The Doctor explains that the bio-bot was only protecting the ship and its crew because it had detected a giant water spout heading their way. Taking the vessel down beneath the sea, the water spout passes over them safely and the research vessel is returned to its voyage. Clara changes her mind about getting fish and chips for tea...
