Panini Comics took over the licence of the Doctor Who Magazine from Marvel Comics in 1995. Since then it has continued to publish Doctor Who Magazine, Doctor Who Magazine Special Editions and graphic novel collections. Panini is the creator of the card game Doctor Who: Alien Armies. It also published the annual hardcover series Doctor Who Storybook during the David Tennant era.


Following a series of three 50th Anniversary bookazines (featuring The Doctor, the Companions and finally the Daleks), 2014 continued the bookazine formats with the launch of a further series of Essential Doctor Who Guides.
