A temple was a religious building for ceremonies of many kinds.[source needed] Temples could be many shapes and sizes. They were usually quite large, but not always.[source needed] Temples could also be called chapels, churches or cathedrals.[source needed]

Temples could contain religious iconography, statuary and altars. They were used for many purposes: sacrificial ceremonies, celebrations, worship, specific and specilised ceremonies as well as just for hiding in. (PROSE: The Price of Paradise)[additional sources needed]
