Kaftan was a member of the Brotherhood of Logicians. She financed Professor Parry's expedition to Telos. She took part in the expedition with her colleague Eric Klieg and her servant Toberman. She helped Klieg form an alliance with the Cybermen. When it appeared that the controlled Toberman killed Klieg, with the Cyber-Controller ordering her to open the door, she refused and started shooting at him. The Cyber-Controller retaliated and killed Kaftan. It was her death that partially snapped Toberman from his mind control as he attacked the Cyber-Controller. (TV: The Tomb of the Cybermen)
