Doctor Who Magazine 462 was the issue of the magazine cover-dated August 2013. It discussed the announcement of the actor who would replace Matt Smith as the Doctor following the public release of his decision to leave the series at the end of 2013. On 4 August, Peter Capaldi would be revealed as the actor signed on to play the Twelfth Doctor in a live telecast.
This was also the first time John Hurt's face, and respectively, the War Doctor, were shown on the cover of the magazine, though not on a solo cover.
