Rani was born under the sign of Aries. (SJA: The Secrets of the Stars) She quickly became mixed up in alien adventures after she and her family moved into 36 Bannerman Road in Ealing, London, the house formerly occupied by Alan and Maria. Rani wanted to become a journalist like Sarah Jane, an ambition encouraged by her parents, Gita and Haresh. (SJA: The Day of the Clown)

She likes Clyde Langer for being a rebel and Luke Smith for his brains.

Behind the Scenes

The character's name is similar to that of 1980s Doctor Who villain The Rani.
