MMAC (which was short for "Malenfant-IntelligeX Modular Autonomous Component") was a robot created by humans in Scotland to build the Wheel. To make him loyal to humans, MMAC was raised like a human child, with humans taking a sensory unit with him so that he could gain memories like a real childhood. However, as soon as he developed an interest in romance, his builders explained to him that he was a robot. (PROSE: The Wheel of Ice)
