This is a tutorial for writing entries for Novels
Basic Requirements
- First comes the infobox (template for Novels containing a Doctor and template for Novels not containing a Doctor such as Bernice Summerfield and Companion only novels).
- The infobox contains basic information such as Doctor, Companions, Publishing date, Enemy, year novel is set...etc.
Publisher’s Summary
- This is what is on the back of the novel (sometimes called the blurb).
Characters
- This is a list of all the primary characters.
- You can also place information pertaining to characters that does not fit within the 'references' list. (Indent and bullet point by using :*)
References
- References are anything that is referred to in the novel, these are generally links to other things in the Doctor Who universe, and are in-universe, links to other stories should go in Continuity)
- This is a list of characters, organisations, planets, races and species and other items which are referred to in the novel.
- The list should be divided into categories, and for better clarification short descriptions of what it is (or how it fits into the story).
Notes
- This contains extra information about the novel, behind the scenes writing, other information about it etc.
- Any other information which does not fall under other headings.
Continuity
- Continuity refers to the links between stories and this novel's links to them
- Tie-ins between this novel and other stories be them other novels, TV stories or audios.
- These should be listed (in the same manner to any other story) with the prefix of the story's group followed by the story's title in italics, it does not need to be in brackets.
Timeline
- Timeline refers to all Doctor Who media and attempts to place this story within the timeline
- Timeline is usually only used for the Past Doctor Adventures, Virgin Missing Adventures, Big Finish Bernice Summerfield Series and Telos Doctor Who Novellas and any short stories (there are of course exceptions with everything but with regards to the BBC Eighth Doctor Adventures or the Virgin New Adventures if the next story in the timeline is in the infobox it needn't be repeated with a timeline section and the timeline can be omitted).
The timeline should be written something like this:
- (page story title) occurs after: (prefix): (story title)
- (page story title) occurs before: (prefix): (story title)
External Links
- Here you should place outside links to any sites you used in researching the article, or to sites which may have more information.
