The Merry Men were a band of outlaws who robbed from the rich and gave to the poor in the late 12th century. By the 21st century, people believed them to be a mere myth, a sentiment shared by the Twelfth Doctor. (TV: Robot of Sherwood)
Their sanctuary was Sherwood Forest outside Nottingham, specifically the Major Oak, which by 2050 became the last oak tree in existence. (TV: The Last Oak Tree)
