While I have no doubt that this story does take place a year after Into the Dalek, I am curious as to where the 2018 date comes from? After all with a lot of recent stories having their modern day pieces set at the time of air (specifically a lot of 11th Doctor stories, including I believe the 50th Anniversary) I am wondering why we are believed to now be so many years in the future? Is this really a production error?
When The Doctor meets Courtney Woods in the Caretaker's shed, he hands the package of paper towels to her, but they reappear in his hand, and she walks off empty-handed.
