When the Wolves Came was a short prose story published in September 2014 in Doctor Who The Official Annual 2015. It is the first licensed short story in any medium to feature the Twelfth Doctor.
Summary
In the 22nd century, a boy named Simon is trying to survive after an evacuation left them behind due to an alien invasion. Wolves then arrived to make surviving more difficult. Luckily, Simon had a strange blue box as a base, impossibly bigger on the inside. When realizing that the wolves could leave him stranded there, he touched some panels and asks for rescue. Then, The Twelfth Doctor and Clara materialize in, because those were the telepathic circuits. The Doctor landed the TARDIS by Simon's mum and dad, and then departed themselves.
