Rice cake

A rice cake was an Earth food made by forming rice into a condensed shape.

In 21st century New Orleans, the Eighth Doctor chose a restaurant because it served deep-fried rice cakes. He poured maple syrup on the cakes and crushed them together with his grits. (PROSE: The City of the Dead)
