Scrum was a human in his forties who lived in the 26th century. He was a member of the crew of the Wayfarer, an old Naval cruiser. He worked on the ship as a computer technician. The crew thought Scrum was a technical genius. He travelled with the crew to the planets Hurala and Arkheon. On Arkheon he was exterminated by the Daleks and Command Dalek as he was of no use to them. Scrum's death was avenged by Cuttin' Edge who killed the Dalek that killed him in the mines.
