Dis was a prison planet used by the Imperial Landsknechte during the 30th century. The star it orbited, formerly a white dwarf, was turned into a red giant by a quark bomb the Earth Empire used in their war against the Greld. After that transformation, Dis was within the photosphere of the red giant. (PROSE: Original Sin)

The name may have been derived from the fictional city of Dis, located in the seventh circle of Hell in Dante's Inferno.
