Anne Rice was a writer who wrote vampire novels. (PROSE: The City of the Dead)
Slake wanted to turn Anne Rice into a vampire. He wanted new recruits and to make San Francisco the home of his new nightstalker gang. Then he and his gang would have started to kill as many people as possible.
However, Slake was killed before he could fulfill his plan. (PROSE: Vampire Science)
When Anji Kapoor visited New Orleans together with the Eighth Doctor, the Doctor told Anji that any real vampires would shun New Orleans. They would not have enough privacy there. In New Orleans there were vampire tours and Anne Rice's vampire novels took place there.
