Torchwood comic stories appeared in Torchwood Magazine and online.
Overview
- Torchwood Magazine features its own licensed Torchwood spin-off comic series in a way similar to the various Doctor Who magazines have their own spin-off comic series. The stories are aimed at an age similar to the television series audience and are adult in nature.
- To celebrate the repeat of Series 2 of Torchwood on the UK channel Watch, Torchwood Magazine commissioned an exclusive comic for their website.
- In August 2010 Titan Publishing Group launched Torchwood The Official Comic, which follows the collected comic strip story/ graphic novel Rift War!
- Of particular note is the fact that both John Barrowman (Jack Harkness) and Gareth David-Lloyd (Ianto Jones) have contributed to the comic stories, with Barrowman co-writing Captain Jack and the Selkie and David-Lloyd writing Shrouded — in both cases with their own screen character leading the story. The only other instance of such an occurrence is Colin Baker (Sixth Doctor) co-writing the graphic novel The Age of Chaos.
