The Tuareg were a patriarchal group of tribesmen who lived in the Sahara Desert. During World War II, they were allied with the Nazis. Later, in 1941, they made allies with the Sontarans, and had access to Sontaran blasters. The Twelfth Doctor and Field Marshall Rommel encountered the Tuareg late one night, but the Doctor stopped the conflict after disarming their weapons with his sonic screwdriver. The Doctor then asked the Tuareg to escort them to their leader Bhaki so they could meet these "men from the stars". (COMIC: The Instruments of War)
