Rigel was a star visible from Earth in the same sky sector as Betelgeuse and the Horsehead Nebula. Ian Chesterton once showed it to Vicki Pallister. Nonetheless, the First Doctor remembered to have been in a tavern on Rigel during the early years of the Draconian Purges. (PROSE: Byzantium!)
