Adelaide Brooke's father instructed her to stay indoors during the War in the Medusa Cascade while he went out looking for her mother. During his absence, a Dalek appeared outside the window. Once it saw Adelaide though, it flew away. Adelaide later said her father never came back and she never saw her mother again. (TV: The Waters of Mars)
