::I'm firmly opposed to a name change. The only name given to them by the script is "alien stingray". This name is also used in the accompanying ''Confidential'', and in some material on the official site. Sure, it may not be their ''actual'' name, but it is "official" in the sense that it's the only one the BBC have given us. One definitely gets the sense that it's the name entered in the official UNIT files. Come to think of it, they probably don't have a "proper" name, because they're not shown to be sentient. Any names are those given by other species. Is the real name of horses "horse"? Let's ask one and find out . . .
