The graphaphone was invented by Chichester Bell in the late 19th century. According to the Third Doctor, it replaced the "old phonographs" of Edison. Helen Fitzmaurice had a graphaphone that had inadvertently captured aliens from a microverse. (PROSE: Echoes)
