From these observations we have attempted to build a concise timeline. Timeline

The Peter Butterworth Monk

The Doctor traps the Monk on an unknown ice planet.

The Graeme Garden Monk

The Monk has escaped the ice planet, and regenerated at least once. His goal is to repair his TARDIS, not revenge against the Doctor.
The Monk blames the Doctor for Tamsin's death and wants revenge.

The No Future Monk

Mortimus has regenerated. He is seeking revenge the Doctor, claiming that it is for being left on the ice planet. However, he did not want revenge in The Book of Kells, so it must be assumed that he is lying, and his motivation for revenge is Tamsin's death. After losing control of Artemis, he is attacked and regenerates once more.

The Rufus Hound Monk

The Monk is still after revenge, but does not say why except that it is for something in the Doctor's future.
