The Ringstrasse was a circular street surrounding the historical Old Town of Vienna, Austria.
Most of Vienna's attractions, including the Opera House and the Hofburg Palace were adjacent to the Ringstrasse, making it an ideal route for a cab tour.
Newspapers in 1873 described the mysterious brutal murders of Leopold Krauss and Dieter Wallmann as "eyeless murders on the Ringstrasse" because of their missing eyes.
The cab with the Eighth Doctor, Alfred Stahlbaum and Bremm driven by Ernst Bratfisch was chased along the Ringstrasse by the mechanical cab with Gramm and Mary Shelley until the former crashed turning to Hofburg. (AUDIO: The Silver Turk)
