Beekeeping was a hobby or profession that included taking care of and exploiting bees. The Seventh Doctor claimed to have known many beekeepers in his time including Aristotle, who supposedly never stopped wittering on about the insects, as did Thomas Jefferson at a tea party he couldn't get out of. (AUDIO: Survival of the Fittest) Goronwy was also a beekeeper eager to teach others the ways of his profession. (TV: Delta and the Bannermen)
Beekeeper's net hats in the 20th century completely covered their faces. (PROSE: The Slender-Fingered Cats of Bubastis, TV: Delta and the Bannermen)
The Eleventh Doctor always assumed that, in his last days, he'd take up watercolour or beekeeping. (TV: The Name of the Doctor) Bernice Summerfield similarly looked forward to such a future: "just staying at home, taking up beekeeping, growing vegetable marrows, something like that." (PROSE: The Glass Prison)
