TheGodGene was the eighth story in the Bernice Summerfield anthology Something Changed. It was written by Ben Woodhams.
Summary
Lieutenant Bernice Summerfield is supervising some construction work. She is captured and was supposed to have died. Meanwhile, Bev heads up a military unit that was wiped out. Benny spends her time being interogated.

Notes
- Like most of the other stories in this anthology, this story takes place in an altered timeline created by Doggles' history machine; these timelines are (mostly) erased when Braxiatel returns things to normal.
