In 1965, a number of things set in or relevant to the Doctor Who universe were released or published.

• 2 January - "The Powerful Enemy", the first episode of The Rescue, debuted on BBC1.
• 2 January - Part eight of the TV Comic story The Klepton Parasites was first published.
• 9 January - "Desperate Measures", the second and final episode of The Rescue, debuted on BBC1.
• 9 January - Part nine of The Klepton Parasites was first published.
• 16 January - "The Slave Traders", the first episode of The Romans, debuted on BBC1.
• 16 January - The tenth and final part of The Klepton Parasites was released.
• 23 January - "All Roads Lead to Rome" debuted on BBC1.
• 23 January - Part one of TV Comic story The Therovian Quest was released.
• 23 January - Genesis of Evil debuted in TV Century 21 #1, kicking off what was latterly called The Dalek Chronicles.
• 30 January - "Conspiracy" debuted on BBC1.
• 6 February - "Inferno" debuted on BBC1.
• 13 February - "The Web Planet" debuted on BBC1. Though it only got 53% in Audience Appreciation figures, this episode brought 13.5 million viewers, which as of Fall 2009 remains the highest single viewership of any Doctor Who episode ever.
• 13 February - The third Radio Times Doctor Who cover featured the upcoming The Web Planet with a photo of the Zarbi and the Vortis landscape.
• 20 February - "The Zarbi" debuted on BBC1.
• 27 February - "Escape to Danger" debuted on BBC1.
• 27 February - Part six of TV Comic story The Therovian Quest was released.
• March - The Earthlings released the single "Landing of the Daleks"/"March of the Robots" on Parlophone Records. The BBC banned the single due to the fact that "Landing of the Daleks" included a Morse code message – SOS, SOS, Daleks have landed – and it was felt the sound of the international distress signal S.O.S. might mislead shipping if radio operators should hear it. The record was reissued with the offending sound scrambled.
• 6 March - "Crater of Needles" debuted on BBC1.
• 7 March - Part one of TV Comic story The Hijackers of Thrax was released.
• 13 March - "Invasion" debuted on BBC1.
• 20 March - "The Centre" debuted on BBC1.
• 20 March - Part three of TV Comic story The Hijackers of Thrax was released.

• 17 June - The Dalek Painting Book was published by Souvenir Press and Panther Books. A massive 350,000 copies were printed.
• 19 June - "The Death of Doctor Who" debuted on BBC1. This was the first use of the name "Doctor Who" in an episode title.
• 19 June - Part one of TV Comic story Challenge of the Piper was released.
• 25 June - Dr. Who and the Daleks, a colour feature film loosely based upon The Daleks, was released, featuring the debut of Peter Cushing as Dr. Who.
• 26 June - "The Planet of Decision" debuted on BBC1, and saw the first appearance of Peter Purves as Steven Taylor. The episode also featured the departure of Ian Chesterton and Barbara Wright.
• July - The pop single "Who's Who", performed by Roberta Tovey, was released on Polydor. Tovey was a star of the recently-released film Dr. Who and the Daleks.
• July - Jack Dorsey and His Orchestra released the single "Dance of the Daleks" on Polydor.
• 3 July - "The Watcher" debuted on BBC1.
• 10 July - "The Meddling Monk" debuted on BBC1.
• 17 July - "A Battle of Wits" debuted on BBC1.
• 17 July - Part five of TV Comic story Challenge of the Piper was released.
• 24 July - "Checkmate", the final episode of season 2, was first broadcast.
• 24 July - Part one of TV Comic story Moon Landing was released.
• August - Paint and Draw the Film of Dr. Who and the Daleks was published by Souvenir Press. Again, some 350,000 copies were printed.
• 7 August - Part three of TV Comic story Moon Landing was released.
• 14 August - Part one of TV Comic story Time in Reverse was released.
• 28 August - Part three of TV Comic story Time in Reverse was released.
• September - The first Doctor Who annual, Doctor Who Annual 1966, was published by World Distributors, Ltd.

• 4 October - Armada Books published the first paperback edition of the first Doctor Who novelisation: PROSE: Dr. Who in an Exciting Adventure with the Daleks.
• 7 October - The Dalek Pocketbook and Space Travellers Guide was first published.
• 9 October - Mission to the Unknown debuted on BBC1.
• 11 October - The Dalek World was first published.
• 16 October - "Temple of Secrets" debuted on BBC1. This was the first episode produced by John Wiles.
• 21 October - The Avengers episode "Death at Bargain Prices" aired in the UK for the first time. This episode of the series created by Sydney Newman included a cameo appearance by several Daleks — in toy form in a department store.
• 23 October - "Small Prophet, Quick Return" debuted on BBC1.
• 23 October - Part four of TV Comic story The Ordeals of Demeter was released.
• 30 October - "Death of a Spy" debuted on BBC1.
• 30 October - Part one of TV Comic story Enter: The Go-Ray was released.
• 6 November - "Horse of Destruction" debuted on BBC1.
• 13 November - "The Nightmare Begins" debuted on BBC1. Nicholas Courtney made his first appearance on Doctor Who, playing Bret Vyon.
• 20 November - "Day of Armageddon" debuted on BBC1.
• 20 November - Part four of TV Comic story Enter: The Go-Ray was released.
• 27 November - "Devil's Planet" debuted on BBC1.
• 27 November - Part one of TV Comic story Shark Bait was released.
• 4 December - "The Traitors" debuted on BBC1. Adrienne Hill made her final appearance as Katarina as her character became the first companion to be killed off. Jean Marsh, who previously appeared in The Crusade, made her debut as single-story companion Sara Kingdom.
• 11 December - "Counter Plot" debuted on BBC1.
• 18 December - "Coronas of the Sun" debuted on BBC1.
• 18 December - Part four of TV Comic story Shark Bait was released.
• 21 December - The stage play The Curse of the Daleks premiered at Wyndham's Theatre in London. The play ran into 1966.
• 25 December - "The Feast of Steven" debuted on BBC1, the first Doctor Who episode to be broadcast on Christmas Day.
• 25 December - Part one of TV Comic story A Christmas Story was released.
• Unknown - Doctor Who and the Crusaders was published by Frederick Muller.
