::I gotta agree with Amorkuz regarding Demeter's notability. I can see Demeter seed being named after the god, but at least based on what we have on the wiki, Demeter (planet) and Demeter rocket aren't obviously named after the god. And Demeter is just not as well known as most of the other gods. I just don't see that there would be a lot of people looking for this particular individual, and just as equal a chance that they'd be looking for one of the other Demeter-named pages. Isn't this a primary topic?
Hold up, should this page really be moved? How is this not a primary topic? This is about the goddess Demeter. Other greek gods do have multiple pages, but that's because there are multiple interpretations of them. It really isn't necessary to disambiguate and to do so would only distance this page from the goddess Demeter. C o T ☎ 19:03, June 24, 2016 (UTC)
- I have to say that your mention of other gods made me look at them. And it looks like a bit of a mess. But I don't know the stories they appear in, so I shouldn't get involved.
- Now to the topic at hand. Here is my thinking. According to T:DAB, the only criterion of being primary for a topic is how often it is likely to be searched. Moreover, the intended meaning is not "searched at one moment" but rather "searched over the lifetime of the Wikia". There was a big argument regarding why Rory's dad is not a primary topic. I have not been able to persuade people in an ongoing discussion that Osgood is primary topic, and she has half of her own spin-off. (I was ready to continue the fight, but it will not be necessary come November.) Since this Demeter is of much smaller significance compared to Osgood and Brian, I would not consider it a primary topic off the top of my head.
- And the details do not persuade me either. Although the policy does not apply this principle directly to primary topics, it is my understanding that in-universe things always beat out-of-universe. The fact that Demeter is a Greek goddess is important only to the extent that it is being mentioned in the DWU, and I could only find such a mention in one story. There are currently four pages with "Demeter" in the name. Apart from this one, the other three are Demeter (planet), Demeter rocket and Demeter seed. None of the three connect the name to the Greek goddess in-universe (or at least no connection is recorded in the Wikia though about The Tenth Planet I am pretty sure it wasn't made). So, in a sense, the DWU knows four "Demeter"-named entities, each appearing in exactly one story.
- I myself don't see how to argue that this here Demeter would be searched more often that the other three. And I think such an argument needs to be made if this page is to be announced primary. I mean, even by the real-world standards, Demeter is not the most recognisable of deities. I just had to check whether she is even an Olympian (she is).
- I gotta agree with Amorkuz regarding Demeter's notability.
