Dr Thomas Borlase was a priest at Boscombe Hall. He was born in 1701.
In 1756, he conducted a survey of the Nine Travellers. Just after he completed the survey, one of the stones fell on him and he died. His portrait was kept in Boscombe Hall for a couple centuries and when the Fourth Doctor visited the hall in the 1970s, he noticed the portrait. (TV: The Stones of Blood)
