Friar Tuck was a human outlaw in the 12th century. He belonged to Robin Hood's band, the Merry Men, settled in the Sherwood Forest.
He was a portly man, dressed like a monk. Robin Hood hinted he was "named for the quantity of grub he tucks into".
Along with his fellows, he encountered the Twelfth Doctor and Clara Oswald in 1190. Without his consent, the Time Lord took one of his sandals, sniffed and "sonicked" it, confirming it was real. (TV: Robot of Sherwood)
In 2050, Friar Tuck was mentioned in a news report detailing the theft of the Major Oak, the tree which served as the sanctuary of Robin Hood and his Merry Men. (TV: The Last Oak Tree)
