The K9 Unit was a group of K9 Mark 2's friends formed by June Turner in 2050, as her alien activity section of the Department had jurisdiction over him. She gave Professor Alistair Gryffen responsibility for K9. (TV: The Bounty Hunter)
The K9 Unit faced alien threats and even opposed the Department several times. (TV: Sirens of Ceres, Black Hunger, Hound of the Korven, The Eclipse of the Korven)
