Mags was a quiet, gothic-looking young woman who appeared from the planet Vulpana, travelling with Captain Cook. The Doctor and Ace befriended her while investigating the Psychic Circus on the planet Segonax. She was revealed to be a werewolf, her transformation triggered by artificial moonlight. Mags seemed to revile and fear her transformations. Cook triggered her metamorphosis in an attempt to kill the Doctor for the amusement of the Gods of Ragnarok, but the Doctor convinced her that she could control her feral instincts, Mags ended up killing Cook himself.

After the Doctor had defeated the Gods of Ragnarok, she decided to stay behind on Segonax with Bell Boy to re-start the Psychic Circus, despite her fears that her transformation s might once again get out of control. (DW: The Greatest Show in the Galaxy.)
