A hellscape was a dream world created by a mind parasite. When attached to a person, it would find their worst fear and create a world based upon it. The parasite would then feed on the resulting pain. One of them trapped the Eleventh Doctor and Clara Oswald, but they managed to escape their hellscapes and destroy the parasite.
