Wade was an Edwardian sailor who was abducted from Earth by the Eternals to crew the Shadow during the race for Enlightenment. He and the other sailors were in the crew room when the Fifth Doctor and Vislor Turlough entered. Jackson then introduced them to Wade and the other sailors. When the sailors received the summons for rum rations, Wade and the other sailors made a hurried exit from the room.

Wade was one of the sailors that drank the drugged rum that made him accept things like being in space and wearing pressurised suits. He was returned to Earth when the race concluded. (TV: Enlightenment)
