Baroques were a species of humanoid goats left to wander the stars after a cosmic cataclysm forced a planet-wide diaspora on them. A cultural tradition of theirs designated one tribe member as a "scapegoat", who was marked as a perennial victim and repeatedly killed and brought back to life.
History
One such tribe settled on Earth in the Middle Ages, and set up the executions of their scapegoat as a stage performance to pay the bills. Sometime during the occupation of Paris by the Nazis in the 1940s, the Eighth Doctor shuttled them back to their home planet. (AUDIO: The Scapegoat)
Biology
Baroques looked humanoid in general makeup, but their heads had features normally attributed to goats - particularly the horns. They also would frequently make bleating sounds similar to those of Earth goats. (AUDIO: The Scapegoat)
Technology
The Baroque made use of Quantic technology, including Quantic Reanimators to regenerate recent injuries, and Quantograms to change the outward appearance of objects and people. One of their devices could generate a Quantic Beam capable of snaring a time capsule such as the TARDIS. (AUDIO: The Scapegoat)
